17/07/2017 0:00 - Agricultural Commodities Market
EMILCE TERRÉ – SOFÍA CORINA
The volatility arrived to the market of Rosario

After the USDA report, the ups and downs of the international soybean market reflected in the domestic markets with lows of 10 dollars per ton of the oilseed, both in MATBA May2018 futures position as well as in the Camara Arbitral prices. Nevertheless, in the previous days of bullish bids, the soybean reached highs of $ 4,200 per ton for immediate delivery or August delivery, and US$ 260 per ton for May 2018, main new crop delivery month. These positions attracted large trading volumes, energizing the commercial activity.

Unlike soybean, the corn local market kept aside from the international ups and downs. The corn trading volume was triggered at the buyer’s offer of US$ 160/ton for March and April 2018 delivery. According to the registration in the SioGranos platform, the trading volume amounted to 148,000 tons for harvest delivery in Rosario market zones. For immediate delivery, the prices were next to $ 2,450 per ton throughout the week and totaling more than 40,000 tons of traded corn.

Contrary to the external market, the bids for wheat in the local market raised during the week. This allowed the domestic quotes paring with the world major quotes. In relation to the current marketing year, the export firms have a surplus in their inventories since they have registered foreign sales for 9.7 million tons, against domestic purchases for 11 million tons as of July 5. Next marketing year wheat looks clear from the demand point of view since there should not be problems with shipments logistic. The problem comes from the supply side since last days rain could hamper seeding plans
